DRUM//GEN

DRUM//GEN is a drum pattern generator for Ableton Live. Pick a feel, hit Generate, and it writes a full 4-bar groove straight into a clip on your track, ready to play through your own Drum Rack. It's built from real MIDI I programmed myself, so the patterns sit the way a drummer would play them.

Seven feels

• 4x4, Garage, Breaks, Electro, Spacious, Beats and D&B, each with its own groove, swing and velocity range
• Tempo follows your Live set

Scenes and variations

• Every pattern is a 4-bar phrase: bars 1 and 3 hold the main groove, bars 2 and 4 carry the variation
• Add variations to build Scene A, B, C and so on, all from the same root, so they always belong together
• Fills land in their own clips, ready to drop in at the end of a phrase

Works with your kit

• Auto reads your Drum Rack's pad names and maps kick, snare, hats and percussion for you, with no note mapping to set up

Start from your own groove

• Drop a MIDI file onto the device, or pick a clip in your set, and it becomes Scene A. Variations then grow from your pattern
• Variations keep your clip's name, so a clip called "groove" gives you "groove A", "groove B" and so on

Session or Arrangement

• In Arrangement View, new clips are placed after your existing ones without overlapping. In Session View, they go into the next empty slot
• The device tells you exactly which bar or slot each new clip landed in

What you need

• Ableton Live 12.2 or later, Suite or Standard with Max for Live
• A MIDI track with a Drum Rack after the device
